Born into Life:  
July 05, 1938

Hugh Singarayer, was born in Naranthanai, Kayts lived in Jaffna, Colombo and Wembley, London UK. He had a successful career as a Chartered Engineer that started at the cement corporation in KKS in Jaffna. He passed away peacefully with his wife Irene Ponmany by his bedside at St. Mary’s Hospital, London on the 16th of April 2024.

Hugh was the eldest son of late Soosapillai Anthonipillai and Anne Singarayer and son-in-law of late Soosapillai and Mariapillai James.

​

He will be deeply missed by his family. He was a dearly loved husband of Irene Ponmany Singarayer, devoted father to Dr. Chandran Singarayer (Canada) and Dr. Jennifer Singarayer (USA), loving grandfather to Sanjana, Anmol, Shobhana and Joshua and Wonderful father-in-law to Ritu and Charlie.

Hugh, was also loving brother to Walter, Lidwine and Delecta and brother-in-law to Malini, late Bede, Rabindra, Leela, Susan, late Thevam, late John, late Lewis, late Shamala, late Baby acca, late Rasiah, late Rose, late Mahesan, late Gerty and late Peter.

​

Hugh’s much loved nieces and nephews Karen, late Natasha, Shane, Brian, Shehan, Sabina, Frederick, Fiona, Geeta, Prince, Thevi, Malini, Rohini, Raju, Shanti, Nimi, Suban, Sharmini, Lakshman, Niko, Tilak, Shibani, late Shehan, Lakshmi, Susan, and Irene.

He will be missed by his relations and large circle of friends around the world.
